I should clarify that my post is mostly about the tech industry because that’s all I really know. It’s a field where you can get some leeway and figure shit out. If you’re a doctor, they’re gonna check your background and credentials pretty thoroughly and I don’t recommend lying in a field like that.

Do whatever you need to do. Lie on your resume; use AI; automate job applications; rewrite your resume using any tool you can find. It’s a cutthroat environment and I don’t envy anyone trying to find a job right now. Someone I know has been trying for a year and a half and still nothing.

The tech capitalists have captured full control of the industry and they now hold all of the leverage. We don’t have the room we once did for bargaining.

Also, when you do a peer review, say nothing but positive things unless the person is vile. Support fellow working class folks. We can struggle together.

It speaks to the control Israel exerts over its own people and the narrative. It could also speak to their isolationist society and paranoia about being exposed for the massive fraud the country is.

The VR hype was such a poor investment. It’s a tech that has never taken off in any way that’s large enough for the profits they demand I think the only place it’s gotten marginal interest in, is the gaming PC crowd, and even then, it’s still very niche. It feels like the further things progress, the more detached from reality the “innovations” become.

Yep! This is the first time the investment has been so catastrophic though. The amount of money they’re throwing at this absolutely dwarfs every past innovation spike.

This all just feels like sunk cost fallacy at this point. Capitalism can’t do anything besides grow, even when the growth involved and the tech they’re trying to sell isn’t even remotely as good as the hype states.

I’m curious how many folks in the US basically go broke from truck payments and interest rates. I do pretty well working in tech and I still gasp whenever I look at truck prices here. They’re a massive fucking ripoff—even small trucks like the Ranger and Tacoma. I probably walk past folks on the daily that are paying 4-digits every month for a stupid status symbol, while they get paid like shit.

Every single one of these always links back to a government that absolutely refuses to help its people. It’s simple cause and effect.

It’s the simplest conflict on the face of the planet. There is nothing complicated about it, just like the Holocaust was not a complicated thing to grasp. The problem is that no one is immune to propaganda. It’s why even mentioning China in the US makes people uneasy and abruptly stupid. Someone that might otherwise be one of the most articulate people you know, will suddenly become a 2-dimensional dipshit if you mention China, Israel, or Palestine. Undoing that indoctrination takes work—the kind of work a lot of folks are too lazy or busy to care about.

I have quite a bit of disk space from before I moved over to object storage. I can’t size it down so I just roll with it. 4gb of RAM, 70gb disk, 2 Intel vCPUs, then a bucket for object storage (dirt cheap which is nice). I mostly use it for myself and have it federated with a variety of servers and communities. I’ve been in tech for years and like offering it. I also have a Matrix server too but that’s pretty tiny.

It can be a bit expensive, but I’m okay with it if it adds another instance choice for people. Switching over to object storage was an absolute lifesaver.

I run my own instance. I’d tell Elon to eat a pile of soggy dicks before I shut anything down.

I host my own bucket that I have tied to Dropshare, and I throw everything I find into that.
