The universe could just as well be made of only one type of matter. The fact that certain particles attract each other is miraculous in and of itself. It’s what facilitates complex matter and ultimately life. It’s also a funamental law upon which brains have evolved. It’s everything but absurd.

I think that’s more than fair. And as long as bluesky hasn’t been enshittified you’re gonna have a nice time there so might as well. It’s more that the process of enshittification tends to hit traditional platforms eventually no matter what while over here we may have a better shot at building something long lasting. It eliminates the need for a lot of back and forth communication if you need to calculate stuff in space. Maybe scanning satelite images for example. And it shaves off valuable seconds if you - say - want to launch something from orbit to Earth. Most air defense mechanisms are not all that effective against stuff that comes straight down at a high speed and the idea of orbital weapons has been circulating for a while now (if not realised without public knowledge).
